Consent Studio vs. Usercentrics

Usercentrics is the largest European consent vendor and has grown by acquisition, which is why it also owns Cookiebot. If you shortlisted both, you shortlisted one company. Whether size is what you want is a real question, and it goes both ways.

  • Ten euro a month per domain
  • Built and owned in the Netherlands
  • A person answers, not a queue

What we can tell you about ourselves

All of it checkable on our own pricing page and in the product. Nothing here characterises theirs.

  • One price, the whole stack

Banner, client-side tag manager and a weekly scan of every page it can reach, at ten euro a month per domain. Enforcement and monitoring are not tiers you climb to.

  • Independently owned

Vallonic is a Dutch company that has not been acquired, so the answer to who owns us does not change between your evaluation and your renewal. Infrastructure is Scaleway in Amsterdam, independently French.

  • Pages are not counted

A ten-page site and a thousand-page site pay the same, which matters most for the archive nobody visits and which a page-metered plan makes expensive to keep online.

  • Small enough to answer

Support is not a tier and the person replying works on the product. Several customers say this is why they moved, in their own words, which is as close to a comparison as this page gets.

Consent Studio and Usercentrics, side by side

Usercentrics owns Cookiebot, so a shortlist with both is one company. These are the rows that separate us from either.

We only put ourselves next to platforms we respect. If Consent Studio did not exist, Usercentrics is one we would happily have pointed you at, and the rows above are where we differ rather than a verdict on their software.

The Usercentrics column is what they publish about themselves, read on 29 August 2026. Vendors change what they offer, so check the current version before deciding.

Three things worth checking on any consent platform

They work on us as well as on anybody else, and every one is answerable from public material.

  • Who owns the company, and what have they bought

Ownership decides which legal regimes reach your data and it changes without notice. Usercentrics owns Cookiebot, which is worth knowing if you believe you are comparing two independent vendors.

    • Parent company
    • Acquisitions
    • Applicable law
  • What gets counted, and what the overage costs

Find the billing unit, then the included allowance, then the rate above it. The third number is the one that turns a good month into an unexpected invoice, and it is the one furthest down the pricing page.

    • The unit
    • The allowance
    • The overage
  • How fast a real question gets answered

Every vendor claims good support. The measurable version is what happens when you email during your trial, and it is worth doing before you decide rather than after.

    • Trial the support
    • Who replies
    • How long

We built one of the products on this page, so read it the way you would read any vendor’s comparison. The questions above are the part worth taking away: they work on us as well as on anybody else.

What moving actually costs

An afternoon for most sites. The time goes into decisions rather than into code.

  1. Re-categorising the tags

This is the work, and it is a judgement about your business rather than a technical task. Your existing categorisation is a head start, and it is worth re-checking rather than copying: our first scan usually finds tags the old configuration never knew about.

  2. The old consent records

Export them before the account closes, because they stay with the previous vendor. Most sites treat a switch as a point to re-ask rather than to migrate, since consent given against one banner’s wording does not transfer cleanly to another’s.

  3. The install

One script or one plugin, generated for your domain. Twenty minutes, and it is the part people expect to be the hard one.

  4. The renewal date you are waiting for

Most people put a move off until their current contract lapses, and that wait is longer than the move. Essential and Professional cost nothing with us until that date, however far off it is, so the site can move now and never lands on two bills in the same month.

What we charge, and what we count

Ten euro a month per domain, unlimited pages, no per-visitor billing, inside a fair use range of 500,000 sessions a month. Agencies have a partner rate; large estates have Enterprise.

Questions people ask when comparing

Does Usercentrics own Cookiebot?

Yes. Usercentrics acquired Cookiebot, so the two most commonly compared European consent brands belong to one company. If both are on your shortlist, your shortlist has one fewer independent option on it than it appears to.

What does Usercentrics cost?

That is a question for their pricing page, and it is worth asking what the number includes. Ours is published and does not move: ten euro a month per domain, no page limit, no per-visitor billing.

Is a smaller vendor a risk?

It is a fair question and it cuts both ways. A larger vendor is less likely to disappear and more likely to be acquired, repriced or reorganised; a smaller one answers the phone and does not change ownership between your evaluation and your renewal. Ask both kinds what happens in each scenario.

How hard is the migration?

The install is twenty minutes and the real work is re-categorising tags, which no vendor can do for you because it is a judgement about your business. Most sites are live the same afternoon. Export your existing consent records before the old account closes.
